A new digital photography thread. Dial-up users beware......

Post by NotDadsW41 »

There was a running one at AS.com. I thought I'd start one here since I've been doing some experimenting lately. These are all long exposures time experiements. Anything from something like 2 to 16 seconds.

The Spangles is new made to look retro. All of their stores are styled like that. Old records on the walls, old oil cans, lots of neon.

Tristan those are awesome shots.

I'm going to try for a decent shot of the moon again tonight. Doubt if I get it since the wind is howling here. I think it will cause the tri-pod to shake to much...

1/320 shutter speed
f/8
ISO.. not sure. lower is better I think. I think I tried 400 w/o much luck. I think I got the best at 100.

I'll try tonight at let you know what I find.

Great shots, CD and someone. I'll have to see what I can come up with.

Someone, that photo of the wintry road by the lake/river is a grabber. I bet that section of road has seen its share of vehicles sliding off into the water.

The shots of Toronto are from where the gardiner turns into the DVP.. I was waiting to make a delivery and so the photo op...

the lake is in gatineu park in quebec, across the river from ottawa.

and the rim shot I believe was propably from the road to Vanfest last spring

I just got back from Mt. Tremblent in quebec last night... it was a cold week so i didn't really take many pics, but here are a couple.. you may notice they were both takin through a window... the thermometer in my van said -31C (about -24F) at one point.. the elastic things on my sun visors were hanging limp untill the heat got going..

My wife and I just got back from the Hocking Hills region of southeast Ohio. We spent the weekend there hiking through the various hollows and taking in the scenery. There were a lot of what I call 'frozen waterfalls' due to the slow moving water and the recent cold. Here's a photo of me standing on a footbridge in front of one of the waterfalls; as you can see, the ice formation was huge. It's hard to see in the photo, but there's water falling behind me--it's about a 90 foot drop, if I remember correctly.
The views were utterly amazing and well worth the several miles we walked to see them all, even if we did wear ourselves out in a big way. By Sunday, a 2 mile walk over some rugged terrain was all we cared to do because we were just whipped by then. So, we climbed into the car and headed home. It's nice being back, but it now seems like we never were there, and it's back to work tomorrow. Ah well.

Looks good Rob, looks like you've discovered a new world down there.

Here's a pic I took of the Moon on my way home from work early this morning. I wasn't expecting the pic to have such an orangy hue to it

I sharpened the pic slightly to bring out the craters ,but no other retouching was done
