Dodge Dakota question

Post by chemist »

While I was out today I saw what would make the PERFECT beater for me while I garage the Astro and bring it back to the condition I need it in. It was a 4WD Dodge Dakota for $3500. It looked to have what appeared to be a 8' bed. But I thought all the Dakotas had 6 or 7' beds. I didn't measure it, so I can't be sure. But were the Dakota's ever made with an 8' bed?

Previous Vans: 1998 Astro, AWD, 138K mi; traded on 2003 Chevy Astro, AWD, 125K mi; traded on
2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT, 4x4, ext, long box
2007 Chevy Cobalt
1998 Maza MPV (180K mi and in need of PA inspection--only paid $500!)

Needed: a Gen 2 Astro project vehicle...

chemist, According to this article, it looks like it may have an 8" bed. Good Luck with it, and keep us posted as to your Astro progress. Thanks, Jim

you didn't mention what year you were looking at.. I'll assume that it was the 97-04 body style.

first and only year with an 8' bed was 97 .. and ONLY available with regular cab

x2. My '99 dak had the 6' bed and 50" between the wheelwells so I would just drop the tailgate and have 8'
