I would like to find a standard trans to work with the engine I am currently building. According to my specs this engine will produce between 350 and 400 hp. I would like to know what 4 or 5 speed standard trans will handle this much hp. Also if anyone has a set of pedals to sell to install a standard
into an astro please let me know and also give me a price. Oh and one more question: do I have to change the cross member to install a standard?
Thanks Mark

Re: standard trans to take 300+ HP?
you can get your 4L60E rebuilt to handle that much or even a 4L80E, probably the easiest would be to just have your current tranny rebuilt by a pro to handle at least 300hp. I work at a snowboard camp on Mt Hood, we have 20+ vans, most fords and dodges, but we get ours all rebuilt to handle driving up and down the mountain regularly as it is a little different than just your average driving. i forget all what they do to it but its relatively cheap, under $1000...
99 SLT Safari AWD, G80/GT4 rear, Burgundy, 196,000 and counting (strictly AMSOIL) flowmaster 40series muffler no more cat, K&N Kone Filter, roll pan, 255/60/15 rubbers mounted to 15x8.5 inch American Racing Tailgunner wheels, billet grille, CB Radio, Alpine Deck, Shag carpet, the list goes on....
03 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, LB7 Duramax Diesel, 5 speed Allison Tranny, Crew Cab Long Bed, no muffler or cat, 4 inch turbo back and side piped. not too many other mods yet, also addicted to AMSOIL.

To handle that HP with the weight of the van will require a tranny that was behind a 350 in a 1/2 ton or larger truck. An NV4500, SM465, SM420, NP435 or any of the newer 6 speeds in the Camaro and Corvettes would work.
