Most of the time we talk about mod's for wheel/tire combo's.What i am asking is replacement mid priced tires for the 94 LT.I want to first replace the rear tires.Looking for a budget price of $50.00 to $70.00 each. Not sure if that is do-able.

Thanks for the suggestions.

If there's a pick-n-pull near you, I'd try that and look for good tires already on wheels. You get what you pay for to some degree on tires, I'd rather get some used Michelins, Good-Years, etc; than new Pep-boys 4 for $99 may-pops.

Cheap tires are just that.

That said, you can get a good deal on off brand tires made by good manufacturers, I'm too tired now to remember details, but they're out there.

Also, check Craigslist and ebay for deals close to you.

Thanks Roy.Guess I am going shopping.Really don't want any used tires being I am going to narrow it down to one ride once I tear into Ole Yellar.I swear I am going to get these alloy wheels to seal and stop with the soft tires/slow leaks. ](*,)

Good luck on the alloy wheels. Clean the beads and the hole for the valve stem really good. That will usually do it. Put a SMALL amount of that green tire slime in if that doesn't totally fix it. I recycle the darned things and run steel when they start that leaking stuff.

GM has a TSB about how to fix the leaks when it is caused by porisity (sp??), it involves a water tank, marking the wheels, dismounting the tires and sealing the wheel from the inside.

I agree, ](*,)

Well if I have to I'll put tubes in them.Just got me thinking how that would effect the load capacity of the tire for towing??. :-k

Wal Mart baby!

Last time I put tires on my Safari, I found a really good deal at Wal Mart. (Too bad you aren't nearby... I could make you a deal... They are still like brand new since the van has been off the road for 3+ years!)

Honestly...If you clean them up and they still won't seal, junk them and move on. The stock alloys aren't all that.

I doubt you will even find a tire shop that will do it. Tubes are just about unheard of anymore.

A whole set of runable stockers can be had for little or nothing if you look around. My last set cost me the time to take them off the van. You can prolly buy a full set of nice stock wheels for what the tubes will cost.

It's too bad you are so far away, I have 2 complete sets of 4 of those wheels just sitting. Ironically, they don't leak at all.

Roy-I had rims from Ole Yellar,(and when that seller sold me that van he gave me a extra set),Wheels and tires from the donor van,
two donit shares from dolly towing home two vans.I have so many rins and tires around here I couldn't move in my 12' enclosed trailer. The back of Ole Yellar was full too.I gave away to Dunedog a member here, a set of tires and white wagon rims and as many rims and tires as he would take to put a end to the storage of them and I really didn't want to put them on the LT.Just thought they didn't look right on the LT.Well I get the rims on the LT to work one way or another. Thanks for the offer.

Well guys I snoozed on the sale at Sears and lost out.Still thanks for the lead Bill.So after shopping for two days,(the first one getting quotes on the wrong size),I bought two tires from Firestone for the rear.Got two off brand but very nice A/T tires that will be acceptable for towing while I get Ole Yellar built.Cost was $243.00 for the pair with new stems, balanced, and road hazard and them taking care of getting rid of the old tires.

Sure does feel good to have them and have all the sizes the same again.I think it is a major step in getting the LT going again so I can start the Ole Yellar build.

Thanks Guys for all your input. =D>

My local Discount Tire http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/home.do has 4 stock 205x75 or 215x75s
mounted, lifetime rotate and balance, lifetime road hazard replacement
for $334.28 total inc tax. Total price without the
roadhazard warranty $297.23.

Personally, I'd never buy tires without a road hazard warranty.
Run over a muffler, nail, dead body, whatever, the tire gets
repaired or replaced at zero cost to you. I've never owned a
set of tires, of any quality level, that I didn't have to make
use of that road hazard warranty at least a couple of times
in the lifetime of the tires. Pays for itself the first time you
use it.

"Road Hazard" is a less than ideal term. They've also replaced
tires on our horse trailer and truck that have simply degraded
due to the UV/Ozone.

Lifetime rotate and balance. :bounce: Any time I hit
a curb, pothole, 4x4 off roader etc, I simply drive by any
of their stores, anywhere in the country, and they do the
rotate/balance, repair if needed etc. I'm in their computer
system. They just look up my phone number (or name, LPN,
anything) and they verify my warranty status. No need to
keep track of paperwork, receipts etc. I even drive by there
to let them check my tire pressure. It's simply a lot easier
than getting out my compressor etc. They check the tire
temp with a laser gun and check for nails/wear etc.

And those kids that work at the stores think my camo astro is "the shit".
