Yeah just ordered the paint. Had to wait for after SEMA to make sure I didn't see anything else that changed my mind. Gave my buddy the summer off. I didn't want him sweating and hating working on my project during the sweltering Florida heat. Now that it's cooling down, back to work. Hopefully it will be painted before the 24 hours of Rolex (February). I plan on that being the coming out party. I have started working on some of the interior pieces too. Will post more pics soon.

I love the color combination you've chosen, can't wait to see it finished!

I also like your floor mats, where did you get them?

And, I'm quite jealous of your frosty A/C. Can you please give more details on how you got it working so well?

I don't wanna hijack your thread, so if you want to PM me that's fine. Or another thread for the A/C stuff?

Thanks.

The mats are from http://www.lloydmats.com/ and I absolutely love them. Totally worth the money.
As for the a/c I ended up changing pretty much everything. But adding an electric pusher fan in front of the condenser really helped alot. Plus I have the rear a/c too. Cost me a fortune but living in florida you gotta have good a/c.
Thanks for looking.

Ok one more a/c question: is the system still R12 or did you change it to 134A?

It was already switched to R-134 by the previous owner. So I was lucky in that regard. However with all the parts I cvhanged it really wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Ok so I found some pics of my old Safari. This is it with 17" rims and factory stance. Funny thing about these wheels I got them for free from Van Bryant of 69 Boys fame. Remember the song "Tootsie Roll"? Ha ha. He gave em to me when we took them off his suburban and upgraded him to some new ones. I later sold them to fund the airbag/ lowering parts.
Image

While waiting for the lowering to take place I got a free set of 17" Enkei forged SST-2 alloys.
Image

And then alas I got it lowered with a modified flip kit out back and bags and spindles up front. Also swapped the wheels to 18".
SST-2.

Never having finished this one is what has brought me full circle to where I am today with another van. Funny how history repeats itself sometimes. Either that or I'm just a glutton for punishment.

Quick update. Getting closer to color. Got the new door shaved now.

Tail light buckets are getting worked over.

Body panels are smoothed out and will be receiving epoxy primer next to seal all the bodywork.

Sorry for the boring pics but body work isn't exactly photogenic. But it is getting smooth and almost ready for color. Can't wait.

So while the body work is getting done I decided to start on the interior. I got some SEM Color Coat vinyl coating to help dye the original faded and yellowed interior plastics.
Image

In the next few pics you can see the difference it makes on some scrap interior parts. These are some ashtrays and an old storage pocket that show the old yellowed condition of many of the interior parts of my van.

I also got some samples of the suede I'll be using for the upper half of the interior. I think I'm going to do a dark charcoal carpet and I think I may end up with the lighter suede color on the top. What do you think?
