Just curious, where is the power band on my engine (L35)? Anybody know?

The blue lines are your powerband, and the red ones are if you had a Magnaflow muffler, according to Magnaflow anyway.

I'm guessing that the top lines are torque, and the bottom lines are HP. The numbers will be lower than expected if this is a chassis dyno.

5000 RPM?? Wow. I'm pretty sure mine spends most of its time below 3000.

According to GM, a stock late 90's 4.3 V6 has 190 hp @ 4400 rpm and 250 ft# torque @ 2800 rpm. I always found the van made the best power between 2500 and 4500 rpm's. Above 4500 - 5000 the power dropped off fairly quickly.

I've got a 2000. This is what wiki said:
Year Horsepower Torque Fuel System Compression Ratio RPO Applications
1999–2002 200 hp (150 kW) @ 4600 rpm 260 lb·ft (353 N·m) @ 2800 RPM SCPI 9.2:1 L35 7
2800-5600 RPM is a pretty wide power band, which makes sense, this being a torquey engine.

Actually the 200hp/260tq was only in the Silverado pickups. They ran dual cats and a free-er (how do you spell that?) exhaust system being 3" all the way. The M/L vans were still only 190/250.

Interesting. Wonder why they didn't do that for the vans. Does it makes the engine drink more fuel too, or does it run more efficiently?

I would bet it has to do with room for the second cat on the driver side. In the AWD vans, there isn't enough room for the driver side cat.
