My freon leaked out months ago. If I change the compressor myself, do I need to add oil or anything before I take it to the shop for then to suck out the air and put freon in it?

The shop will evacuate the system, check for leaks and recharge with the correct amount of oil and refrigerant. No need to add any oil yourself.

Where the heck is the 'orofice' tube?

The instructions will tell you if you need to add oil. Some do need oil added, some don't.
