Possible to adjust door strikers?

Post by Herbie »

Hello all. Does anyone know if its possible to adjust the door strikers or otherwise adjust how the door closes?

My passenger door seems to be sitting a bit low and rubbing/interfering on the pin in the jamb. Sometimes it is quite hard to open that door and there's a definite metal-on-metal sound. Looking at the door gaps, it looks like the door might be sitting a bit low overall, but if possible I'm thinking maybe just adjusting the striker upwards. I see the three bolts near the striker in the door, but I'm not sure if I should just loosen these up and start messing with it, or what.

I know the hinges are welded, so does that mean there's no way to adjust the door gaps overall? Moreover, why does it seem like the door on my 2003 is sagging already?

Thanks!

Probably the pins and bushings are worn. The van is 7 years old and I had replaced the drivers door pins in the SPB due to sag.

Ahh yeah, the bushings, I forgot there's a whole mess of bronze in that system. Yep, heavy door, and I'm sure my wife leans on it a bit when getting in and out, that would explain it.

Looks like I need to score one of those pin removal tools...

Thanks!!

But to answer your question, yes you can adjust the strike a bit. If you look at the end of it you will see a torx bit fits into it too loosen it and adjust.
