How much should I pay for a 2 inch lift install

Post by Wiley »

Obviously you guys would generally do it yourself, so what do you think a fair price is for me? I know it should take a 3-5 hours, sounds pretty easy, and since I have the parts I suppose I am just paying labor, but have no idea what would be fair. Just looking for a ballpark figure. Thanks

hmm, so one place qouted 600, no thanks. I am reevaluating my plan, but am still looking for what someone thinks I should be able to find.

What parts do you have all told?

Can you do the fan shroud yourself? (remove it, get the lift installed, trim and refit the shroud at home)
Also the E-cable bracket...do it yourself?
Bumper relocation. (you could also save shop time by removing the bumper cover at home aswell...you "only" need a philips and standard screw driver, a 10 and 7mm socket)

Good, Cheap, Fast.

Pick any two....

It really isnt hard at all to do.
So, in a shop with good tools, 4 hours or so is about right, 5 to be safe.
2.5 if you cruise this site much, and your fast, and good. Lol...

It's Just hard to find a mechanic you trust, then ask his shop rate.
Around here its between 65 to 95 an hour.

Thanks guys, you probably wont like my answer, but I have been thinking it over for a few weeks. Cause of time, and the fact that I am sure I can do this myself at a later time, I am just going to bring the parts with me, and do it later. I know its kind of backwards thinking, since I can't really get bigger tires on there, but its minimal in my mind...so I am just going to have someone throw the add a leaf on, and lift it in a few weeks/months. Thanks for the help.

I'm out of work and always looking for some extra money. I have all the tools and space needed to do it right in my own garage. Swing by most any day and I'll (we'll do it together). I did my own with great success.

Wow, I will send you a pm. Of course my timing sucks and I already ordered stock sized tires so I can hit the road, but maybe its worth sticking around just to get the lift on, and still upgrade the tire size down the road. Either way, thanks for the offer, that is awesome.

Thanks again La Grasta, the van looks awesome now, I appreciate the help. FYI, the lift is extremely easy to do if you have the tools, I would not take it to have someone else do it unless it is a last resort, its all fairly straight forward.

It was great meeting and hearing about your upcoming adventure, very exciting. The work went well, but I'm surprised it took as long as it did. I really feel we did a quality job though. We took our time trimming the fan shroud, it still looks factory. Our trim job on the front wheel wells, the same thing, looks factory; no one would even suspect we cut a bunch of it out. You are good to go!

Now that I've done two, I'd like to try a third with the intention of knocking it out in less than 3 hours, maybe even 2. Who's next?

Also, I recommend the shackle kit over the add a leaf, easier and effective.

I had one of the spacers from my lift come out on the coastal road east of San jose del Cabo, Baja Mx. I would like to redo them all with some locktite which I have, though the bushings(?) are in rough shape so I want to see if I can get new ones here before lock titing anything....just happened, so not sure what to do :( I may head home for this and enter mainland from Arizona/New Mexico. Talk about a depressing start. :(

I suppose it goes without saying but make sure you use locktite. I didnt even know what locktite was back then. Lesson learned.
