'97 GMC Safari AWD BackCountryVans maiden voyage

Post by loopie »

Finally have the 2.5" kit dialed...this testing ground is literally 2min from my house. Took'er out for a rip :muhaha:
These pics and video don't do this trail justice...I'll be working on better footage to really showcase it. A regular 4x4 with an open rear diff would have a very hard time climbing this trail in sections.
In this van (with the factory G80 locker)...it was a cake walk! :supz:

Your van looks great. Nice area to test drive. I'll bet the dogs love it also. I'd like to fly that area in my balloon. \:D/

I was suprised at that, too. But I guess it makes sense.

Thanks for sharing those Loopie.
Man I miss that area, I grew up not far from there in Merritt. talk about a great place to go 4x4ing.
Was that south of Kamloops, like around Sahali or Nutsford?
I miss the dessert climate over there, not much but rain and rainforest over here on the island.

Looks Good, Congrats!

That is the north/north-west corner of town...known as "Batch" (Batchelor Heights) and officially Lac de Bois Grasslands Provincial Park with a large section designated for off-road recreation. But really, anywhere around Kamloops is off-road fun...you just have to stay on existing roads/trails...which isn't hard cuz they're everywhere! :supz:

Knutsford is south of town and the starting point of a very nice off-road trail that comes out at Lac Le-Juene. I'll be documenting that exursion just as the snow/ice is letting go...should be muddy :muhaha:

We did that when i was about 6 years old, in a chevy pickuptruck.
Your right, you could litterally go for hundreds of miles thru the backroads around there. Lac le june, Login Lake, Spencis Bridge. Its all mostly dessert and tumbleweeds too. Good country.
