best way to install a starter kill switch?

wondering if anyone has installed a kill switch?

if so .. where? and what wire did you tap into ?

I want to install one on my 97 .. just a simple on/off type switch, hidden somewhere.

You can get keyed one that mounts right to battery post.

Or you could go the cheap route, take the ignition fuse with you (or any number of other fuses that will disable the engine)

Rob-Jegs,Summit,have kill switches where some are keyed.Two things come to mind through.As you said,hiding the switch is the biggest thing and if a thief wants it bad enough,they will figure a way to get it.Really all you can hope for is to slow them down so they give up.You know how many times I hear a alarm go off in a parking lot and really I don't pay much attention to it.

The kill switches they sell are the big lug type that goes between the battery and the starter or between the key and the starter.The instructions are pretty good.

Got me thinking. :-k You don't need a permit for this either.Just leave a empty hoister in plain view for a glock on the passenger seat.Might give them something o think about.......

thanks for the input guys. for now I'm just pulling the starter relay. better than nothing being a deterrent.

usually, the way things go around my area the vehicles that have nice wheels get boosted and driven towards the reserve about 40min from here, or to a secluded parking lot of a nearby factory, wheels stolen and dropped on the ground.

i figure they'll try to hotwire it and drive it away, if they can't get it out of my driveway or my lot at work.. both are visible spots, if it doesn't start they won't stick around too long messing with it.

going to install a couple of leds on the dash within plain sight too

no point in an actual alarm.. they deter no more than simulated setups based on my unfortunate experiences of the past

two-way alarms are great mine is always in silent when it goes off i'm beside my van in seconds a friends acquaintance ignored his two-way alarm and when he came down in the morning all his stereo equipment was gone. also a lot of alarms have a mechanism to disable the starter when triggered some even have kill switches that'll kill the engine if it's running. most people do ignore alarms going off though so if it's not a two-way it's not worth buying IMHO
