There's a black plastic coated antenna, about a foot long, on the roof of my van towards the back. I've been trying to figure out what it is for as long as I've had the van. It appears to be stock, but I'm pretty sure it's not for the radio. I asked the dealer we got it from about it, and they said it was to amplify cell phone signal, but I haven't found any unusual wires in the van, nor have I noticed any difference in phone signal when near it. There apparently hasn't ever been a cb in there because I haven't found any brackets or evidence that brackets had been there at some point.
What could it be?

Re: Question about roof-mounted antenna
I might be able to get a picture this evening... I've been using the school computers, and Photobucket is blocked here, so I haven't been able to upload one.

Re: Question about roof-mounted antenna
I took several pics of it, so here they are.
The base-
The whole thing-
The antenna with my thumb next to it for comparison-
Sorry it took so long, I just now took the pictures about twenty minutes ago. I kept forgetting!
The brick building in the background is the public library.

Re: Question about roof-mounted antenna
The antennas for my aviation radios look very similiar.
