I Got Banned... Again

Funny lil story for Y'all.

After more than a year of being banned from the other site.
I decided to sign up again.
Not to post, but to just follow along, having the benefit of read/unread tracking.

What a mistake that was. They found my new login, and banned me again. In less than 24 hours.
Great bunch of guys over there. Or is it just one guy? Yeah, just one.
I know who it is, and so do the more seasoned members here.

Never the less, I will continue to... Data Farm for my future with my van, and to help others with theirs.

Is this a place where with your own sweaty labor you till and enrich the soil, plant select seeds, continually water, and patiently with much struggle and worries care for a crop until there is worthy fruit to enjoy ?

Or

Is this a place where you stealthy travel around to various bloomed gardens of others and put their harvests into your bag to then deposit into your private silo ?

I have to wonder if the gallant Robin Hood portion of helping others by this Data Farming is always easy to see with the AC/DC and often condescending if not in agreement answers that are dispensed from the private silo.

I would say neither. I would call it gleaning the corners of a field, after it has been harvested by the owner.

I think he checks the IPs. I figure the only way to get back in is to use a different service provider, or log in from someone else's house.

I was banned many moons ago for sending PMs to members I thought would be good contributers over here. I was busted. (Never figured out if someone turned me in, or he reads everyone's PMs...)

Please do NOT take anything that I said to be directly or remotely a suggestion for YOU, Jim, to "lurk" nor an incrimination of you alone. I am sure that I live in a glass house no matter how hard I try to be otherwise. I was enticed with your adventure and further enthralled by your farm theory.

It seems that on almost all forums, Astro related or not, that there is a lot of silliness for lack of wishing to define all of these actions further. Silliness is so much easier to occur in a non face to face situation. It can even become very silly when certain liquid fuels or solid tablets are applied.

Me just raising a point for discussion. Thank you for your insight.

PS The frontal approach to an Unicorn caution is well taken. I will add that one should not pick low growing crops facing away from the front of that critter. That could be a real back door entry !!

Thank you Matt. He's not only a paranoid idiot, he runs the place like a Nazi. I wonder if the FCC would slap the crap out of him if they knew he was reading "Private Messages".

It's ultimately his site, on his server. The FCC doesn't have squat to do with it, it's not over the air waves. Besides that many forums have built in methods of red flagging people who try to ban evade. Not like you need to read PMs to figure that out. Not like it's hard to do either, if you were really wanting to get creative you could even query against the database for key words.

If you think he makes much of anything off of the site after he pays expenses, I doubt it. Running a forum ain't cheap. It's also hugely demanding on time if you're on top of it. There are ALWAYS issues to be ironed out, even aside from moderation. I ran the server of Turbomustangs/theturboforums.com for a few years. He could be making 2-300 a month off of it (which there's no way) and it still isn't worth it for the time you have to commit to it. You people seem to act as if he's running around in a Cadillac or a BMW b/c he owns the site or something. Doesn't work that way they are usually a drain if anything. A board that makes money is pretty damn rare especially with some crappy Adsense ads up. It's the yearly sponsors who participate in the site that make you $.

Besides that, I'll also go out on a limb and say don't troll and you won't be banned.

No I am not a nutswinger of Austin's but I've seen the people who admin this site do some pretty mean things to people who were long time members of the old site and say some pretty hurtful things. Zam comes to mind specifically. Quite frankly that's why I'm overall pretty damn rare to post on either these days. Besides, I've said it once and I'll say it again there's not enough people for 1 board any more much less 2.

I think everyone desires to have valuable contributors to the body and not just takers of your life's blood.

There should be no issue of belonging to more than one body. There is a better chance that this can enhance the overall as in Nature.
