Hey Guys/gals...

Sorry I haven't been around much......Been super Busy since December...

Lifted my Buds Astro AWD 4" plus....Looks Bad Ass.... :muhaha: :yikes:

I am ready to do mine now as well....But I have to Run to South Cali this weekend to pick up 2 Rescue Dogs.....

My Question is...Can I pull the front driveline on the AWD without issues....??
van is a 98 AWD

I am looking to Squeeze all the mpg's I can for this trip.....just over 1000miles each way....

Thanks for any info, John in Oregon......

If you pull the front driveshaft, it will eat up your transfer case and also the Park gear won't work.

You could almost double your MPG with a small rental car. Thereby cutting your gas expenses in half. That in and of itself, will almost pay for a rental car.

Just a thought, Jim

Not recommended. Both AWD systems in these vans are reactive operating normally with most of the power going to the rear wheels. You would only gain 1 mpg, by removing ALL AWD components. Just taking the drive shaft out leaves the drag and weight of the CVs, front diff and trans case.

Draft semis 2.5-3 seconds back (which is a safe following distance) and you'll get a better MPG gain than doing weird things to your van.

Thanks guys.....I do Subaru AWD all day long.....So I know the answer there....:)

I thought I had read something in here back when I was researching doing my 2WD 4x4 T-case swap.....
I have all the parts to do that swap, but not the time yet....:(

Reason for taking the Van, is I am going down to bring home 2 Dogs....One adult Akita weighing in at 120lbs and a Pup that will be in a Crate/kennel.....So the Van is The Only Option....
Not too stressed about the milage, but just trying to squeeze a bit more out....
I'll tell you all what My average is when I get back.....

Chat soon, John.
