I do know that the plant closed before noon on Friday the 13th in May of 2005.


The last van produced on that day along with three others were raffled off to employees.

I have seen various numbers as to the total made being about 3,200,000. I still would like to find the exact number.

Ok did you count mine ? If it is 3.2 Mil and we add say two a day to our counting it will take 1.6 Mil days to reach an answer. That is over 4,300 years. I doubt that I can wait that long.

I have read "Astro and Safari production peaked in 1988, when the plant's 3,800 workers built 219,547 vehicles."

According to http://www.compnin.com ;which gives info on yearly numbers; by entered vin. There were 83,532 Astros built in 1998. I may enter the vin for my 91 and 94 just to see what useful info may come up. hope that 83,532 puts a dent in your 4,300 year deadline.....
