Man lots to talk about. Not Chad's first rodeo with this. But that is the chew chief's job to find a edge and likely not the only crew chief that is doing something. It's a shame as big as these teams are, that a unknowing driver loses points caught in the cross fire.

It's not entirely imposable that the King Richard Petty was doing something he shouldn't to have won the number of championships he did. That is the record Jimmie Johnson wants to break.

Zam-I agree with you.We are no where near the level of a NASCAR team, but I promise we have never done anything to gain a edge in our race deal the might be a gray area..... [-( :yawinkle: :muhaha: :muhaha:

I agree with Smokey, "If there isn't a rule against it, it should be legal". I think at one time most of the Nascar rule book was outlawing stuff that would have never occured to them until they saw it on Smokeys rides.

The idiots that run NASCAR have ruined what use to be a great racing sport. Back in the day if a car builder came up with something that gave his team an edge he was applauded. Now he is fined and penalized. It's no longer competitive. Every car has to be exactly the same. To me that's like saying that every olympic competitor has to have blue eyes and weight exactly the same and be exactly the same height and have exactly the same number of hairs on their head. The rules of NASCAR have done away with innovative thinking. That's NOT competitive.
I agree with Stan's comment....Smokey said "You don't read what the rule book says. You read the rule book for what it doesn't say".

One thing to be very sure about.Chad isn't the only one. He's the one that NASCAR singled out because of his comment to Jimmie if he wins be sure to wreck the back of the car.Chad is the one without even a template touching the car(totally visional)was ruled illegal. The same car run in 2010.As huge as these teams are,it is possible with departmentalization of the teams,a driver is unaware of what is legal on the car or not.He is a hired driver. But yet being apart of the team he loses points and a chance to make his mark on the sport.Maybe the rule should be the points go to the driver and not the team to isolate the drivers from stuff like this.Ban crew chiefs and car chiefs or fine them and leave the driver out of the cross fire. :-k

It is kind of stupid to ban Chad from track side. With cell phones,I-Pad's,and all the rest.I would be very surprised even if he gets ban that he wouldn't be in touch with whoever is on the box anyways. So it all comes down to the principle of the thing, the fines, and the lost of points.

I have had guys tell me in the history of NASCAR there have been guys early in the season who where 25 points down and came back to win the championship. Now that would be perfect justice for the Hendrick team to make that come back. Then tell NASCAR hey guys look at this. :butthead: :butthead: :butthead: :yawinkle: :muhaha: :muhaha:

I just read an article in Hot Rod (but can't find a link) that talks about the irrelevance of Nascar to todays hot rodders. Back in the day, the car that won on Sunday was the car that sold on Monday, not so anymore, and there is absolutely no resemblance to "stock" in stock car racing.

In the '80's I was a big Bill Elliot, Davey Allison, Rusty Wallace, Dick Trickle, and Darryl Waltrip fan. Went to Michigan International Speedway a few times, Charlotte, and Bristol, but doubt I'll ever go again.

I stopped reading after that!

As mentioned, everything is cookie cutter. The cars absolutely have nothing to do with anything on the road. What's the point?! I find NASCAR the most boring motorsports racing there is. I'd rather watch WRC, any off-road (long-distance baja type) racing, and drag racing. I want to see standout drivers AND cutting-edge vehicles.

(Sorry for hijacking with a rant, but I truly don't get the appeal of NASCAR....)

The final decision has been made.No points lost,no suspensions, the $100,000 fine stays. That means I think Jimmie Johnson is 13th in the points.

While I agree with the result, the whole system stinks. 1st appeal heard by people in Nascars pocket and the 2ed in Hendricks pocket. Guess that's just how it is these days huh.
