Finally got some time to work on my new motor as more parts are coming, but here is a taste of my work today.
Old motor, rebuild and has about 2000 km on it when i bought it from my goof friend in Mill Bay
Intake Manifold already painted from a Chevy Suburban 94
the back end of the motor
more needs to be done as i will soon hit the sub frame with new steering parts and new suspension. i have a week off this week, so it will give me some time to work on my van.
the intake manifold on this motor will be replaced and so as the water pump, valve cover, oil pan, distributor shaft, oil filter and other sensors as i will be putting a V8 350 Suburban 94 ECU in my Astro van
I still can't make it for this darn water pump issue as of wether or not i should use a V6 astro van W/P or V8 W/P clockwise as i will be using the accessories brackets off my astro van on the new motor. does pressure matter from a V6 to a V8
Or is it safe to use it anyway? Feedback would be gladly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: V8 350 conversion in Progress
The difference is not whether it is a V8 or V6. You need a reverse rotation pump in order to use your existing setup. Just about every late model V6 or V8 used them.

Re: V8 350 conversion in Progress
Well my configuration would be the same as the V6 as i will be using the same acc brackets jut like if it was a V6 262. Now my concern is wether my V6 W/P would do the job on a V8 block. unless i am missing something

Re: V8 350 conversion in Progress
The motor that i have or bought rather was off a tow truck running on Propane. has about 2000 km on rebuild. It is a non Vortech Engine and most of my acc brackets will fit on it.
i want to use my good old Alternator "104 amps" and possibly use my old W/P. my biggest issue is the water pump. LIke i said. i want to use a clockwise W/P for a V8 unless i am missing something
i want to keep the same belt rotation just like my old V6 4.3 on a V8 5.7 for a water pump clockwise rotation.
unless i am not getting your message? draw me a picture. ;) =;

Re: V8 350 conversion in Progress
V8 or V6. Same water pump. You just need a reverse rotation.
Example:
94 Chevy 1500 pick up with 5.7 = ACDELCO Part # 10085760 Water Pump (Standard); Cast Iron, Reverse Rotation, 2 Outlets
94 G20 Chevy van with 5.7 = ACDELCO Part # 10085760 Water Pump (Standard); Cast Iron, Reverse Rotation, 2 Outlets
94 Chevy Astro van with 4.3 = ACDELCO Part # 10085760 Water Pump (Standard); Cast Iron, Reverse Rotation, 2 Outlets
94 K1500 Suburban with 5.7 = ACDELCO Part # 10085760 Water Pump (Standard); Cast Iron, Reverse Rotation, 2 Outlets
In simpler terms, if you want to use your V6 pump, go ahead.
If you are using a 94 ECM from a Suburban with a 5.7, order parts based on that and your original V6 depending on the part.
Example:
94 Chevy 1500 pick up with 5.7 = ACDELCO Part # 10085760 Water Pump (Standard); Cast Iron, Reverse Rotation, 2 Outlets
