Now that he has seen yours, Doesnt you Dad want a V8 as well?
I really like my GT.
I painted it flat black, and put some super dark tinted side windows on it.
Have you got your digital dash yet? I'm thinking I dont really like mine, maybe a trade is in order....

if you have a picture of the dash, we could talk about it, is it stock or custom build?

as for the v8 on my dad's van? LOL i wish. but i think i gave him the bug for it. LOL but he doesn't want a V8 in his van. He doesn't have any projects and for him cars are cars and we leave it the way they are, no customization. LOL

Not me ...

On the other end? my old tranny has been dropped and that 2" lift? LIKE WOW. loving it. access to the 6X 14mm bolts that connects the tranny to the block? AHAHAHAHAHAH i was laughin.
It was so easy and also tons of room to work under and didn't have to lift the van, well i am a skinny guy so i'm pretty easy to sneak in tight spots. ;)

So the fluid in the tranny smelled pretty bad even after only 75km on it, something burned in there, so looks like that i will have to get a new TC and slap it on my other tranny

Well i gues i should of asked you guys that question before putting my tranny in the van, but i thought it would of been compatible, but i have learned something new today.

The torque converter is burned from the one i fried on monday and i thought that the TC from a V6 would of been running fine under a V8 powered motor. Well lesson learned.

IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE
That burned smell i had in my oil that i drained yesterday was my TC that went south after all those burn outs.

So i have a B&N or B&M torque converter for a V8 this time coming from Vancouver tomorrow morning and no need to say that i will be under my van right after work looking at the clock "is it 5 oclock yet??????"

So lesson learned.
V6 torque converter only for V6, if you want more power? go with the motor's specs. V8 for a V8 and V6 for a V6. don't swap. Lost v6 torque converter this week. DARN!!!

Just food for thought. I have learned a lot today.

Ford blue? what the heck, i thought we said Chevy blue? LOL

ya well the yellow is kind of nice in a way. i ran out of blue paint, so might as well finish the yellow. LOL

So got most of the work done on it tonight. tranny is back in the van, new torque converter in place, wiring connected, replaced the Speed sensor as my previous tranny was off by -10 km.

the only things that needs to be done is to put the drive shaft back in there, retorque all the bolts and poor ATF in the tranny or another 11 liters minimum and will go for a little ride and hoping that the tranny will last this time as it is my last one.

The previous tranny that i dropped was so bad. i took the pan out and took me about 10 minutes to clean the pan. it was so black. i think i killed the torque converter, the old tranny might still be good, but i think i really killed that TC. MOUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

MORE POWER OOHAOHAOHOHOHOHAOHOHOHOHOHA ooppppsss fried. ROLF

Oh ya forgot to mention, No burn out. don't want to lose my tranny. :(

Finally had the van back on the road, tranny shift super nice, no hesitation, no hard shifting, no leaks and she flies really good.

One question if anyone can help me out on this.

When i am at a stop light, the motor revs up and down and it will stall. it doesn't happen all the time thou, but just wondering if this is a timing that needs to be set up? some say it is a fuel pump, but i had it replaced 4 years ago, unless i have to replace it for a V8 too? :)

I have a question concerning a TBI system as the van is running a little rich and i haven't got the time to inspect the flow of those injectors and as far i know, those V8 tbi have about 450.000 km on them, but the question that i have here is i had and still have a V6 tbi system rebuild and it has about 500 km on them.

Now wondering if i can re-use those V6 tbi system under my V8 since i have learned the hard way that some parts can be interchangeable, but most of them aren't like sensors, torque converter [-X

Right now the van is running awesome, i do have some minor leaks here and there, but that was to be expected. easy seal replacement and as i mentioned previously, when i do get into a stop light, the engine will rev up and down and will stall. doesn't happen all the time though.

Now unless i bumped into some issues like my New knock sensor that was defective. All sensors are new on this motor, all vacuum hose are replaced, gaskets etc... no need to say anymore. all new except my tbi system.
So i would be more toward a bad injector(s) or tbi system.

You could run some injector cleaner thru with your gas, it may help a bit.
The injectors can be seen with your timing light, and the air cleaner removed.
The fuel should be a nice spray pattern, not a drip drip drip...
The drip-drips will come across as running rich, cuz the fuel isnt atomized at all.

I am certain the TBI body is the same for all SBC & 4.3V6 of that era.
The injectors themselves are definitely not the same, even between a 305 vs 350.
The v6 injectors are different again. They all fit in the SBC-TBI body, but, use different flow rates.

Believe it or not, a 4.3 V6 injector sprays more fuel per hour than a 305 injector, but less than a 350 injector.
You should Use the correct flow rate injectors, but the SBC TBI body is interchangeable.
BBC (427 etc) uses a bigger-different TBI body with larger holes and throttle butterfly plates.

Sweet for that information, i'm gonna get a rebuild kit for it with some new injectors in the next few weeks. that blown tranny put me in some serious no money spending for a few weeks, but i am still very happy on the result for the van. :D

I also ran into another web site earlier about a fuel pump as i thought i was using sarcasm on my previous post, but correct me if im wrong, but looks like i might also have to change the fuel pump for the pressure purpose
QUOTE:
No the TBI setups have different injectors for different displacements... The 4.3 injectors are calibrated for the 4.3 as are the 5.0 (305`s) and the 5.7 (350`s)... Just changing the pressure will not work... The V6 ECU will work in some cases with a 350 but not all... Best way to do it is to get 2 injectors for a 350 and replace the 4.3`s... Then get a true 350 ECU and use the V6 unit for a core... Also the V6 fuel pump may not deliver what you need so change it as well...

Systems may look alike but just think of it this way... They had to make suttle changes to work with different displacements...

I had my fuel pump replaced 4 years ago, not sure if i should change it for a V6 as the van starts anyway, but worried about the fuel pressure as some say 35psi is good for a v6 and some say 65psi is good for a V8 and 35 psi ain't enough for a v8, Again, wondering if i should replace it.

thanks again for the advise :yawinkle:
