I guess I would see how the fuel pump works once your driving it around a bunch, and if it gives ya any crap, turf it.

That was plan A, will do the TBI rebuild and will see how it goes. i figure, if i get a nice Cone shape jet spray, i'll keep it in there, if it doesn't, i'll get a new fuel pump

K, good news, I have that, put my timing light on there too and all is looking good

Now a silly question.

On the astro van v6 the temp sensor was on top on the intake manifold and the sender for the computer was on the driver side by the head

Now when I put it in on the suburban motor 350 the water temp sensor was where the sender was well reversed, would that do any impact or is there really no difference in the water temp from the heads and or the intake manifold?

Unless I hit another lemon of a new bad sensor like my knock sensor

talk about shit out of luck lately.

my van has been running rich since i put her back on the road and right after work "today", i decided to work on it again and figure out what the hell was going on. so i checked all the vacuum lines and they are all good.
checked the fuel lines for leaks? all dry
replaced my iac sensor, all hell broke loose. the threaded part broke in the tbi and the other half was dangling out there. so broke the other part off trying to remove the threded part out of the way and still a no go.

screaming like hell as of WHYYYYYYYY???? looking at the van and i so didn't feel like taking the tbi off the block.
None the less, i took it off as i didn't want any part to fall in the motor for measure of precaution since my day was going from bad to worse.

So removed the tbi system and noticed a bit of a leak by the fuel pressure regulator.

So i took the grinder to cut the rod off that IAC valve of whatever was left of it so i can take my tool to remove damaged or broken hollow threaded part in it. so it worked out great, so that Iac valve area was now clear and clean. YAY

So went down to lordco and got the fuel pressure regulator rebuild kit. took about 30 minutes to clean it up and another 30 the reassemble it and that includes removing the Injectors with the filters and all.

Now i have a hell of a time to start the van up, i have to keep my foot on the gas for a few second, or else it will stall on me.

I know it ain't the fuel or the tbi system as the fuel looks good, pressure are good and no leaks at the regulator. i just read on the manual like a few minutes ago that it might take a little while before the iac valve sits in properly, so that could be the cause , but it is still running rich.

Any Ideas out there, i'm starting to hit a stone wall here ](*,)

If the ignition timing isn't advancing=rich run condition or the ignition timing is off.

k, checked my timing, tdc and i am bang on it, removed my spark plug and they are fouled "Black" and obviously smells rich in fuel.

i put my vacuum gauge on at a normal running temp and the needle wiggles a little, but it is right on the border line of late timing and normal.

I wonder if all of this is not related with a contaminated O2 sensor as it was from my previous v6 motor.

lordco guys says that they are interchangeable i wonder if this is true or not or maybe the contamination could cause all of this behaviour.

Hmmmm also replaced with my new distributor shaft and all and all looks good, but I can have a look at it again as I do have a new spare parts for it, but I seriously doubt that is the problem.

Welcoming other suggestion if you guys have more around. I'll check them out for sure even if I have to tear the van down again. Lol

Figure of speech

I hate when people are right/ =D>

My distributor cap was damaged as the center piece that feeds the spark to the other little terminals? well i was missing a lot of it.

So in the mean time. i replaced all my spark plug, dist cap, O2 sensor and the motor fired up first time. i did had to play a little on the timing and i am now bang on it and it is day and night. the van runs way better.

i might sen it to the shop anyway and have it timed properly as i did mine by ears and vacuum and all as my timing light is CAPOUT,

Thank you :D

Will test the van again this week and see how good it is on gas and power and will soon get out of town with it and go for a really long ride

Found the problem to this darn issue.
My fuel pump is putting to much pressure.

my astro van had a new fuel pump few years back and the pressure is at 55 PSI

But a 94 Suburban is suppose to take only 13 PSI.

No wonder why my motor is running rich.

lordco has a fuel pressure regulator that i can ad on my fuel line to reduce the PSI, for only 65 bux? beats the hell out of dropping the gas tank with a new fuel pump.

That is my next project for this week end. i think we should be good to go from here on out.
FINALLY!!!!!

Yeah, yeah.I know you don't like hearing this stuff. With that big of a difference in fuel pressure, stop driving it.You do not want to wash the cylinders down with gas anymore than it has done already.Change the oil and use a Wix oil filter too along with a fresh set of AC spark plugs.

It will be the plan for the time being until the pressure is or will be stable.

Thanks for the advise
