1993 safari SLX interior in to 1997 safari SLX interior

Post by MadHattersInk »

Help please

I am new to ASV and love the helpful tips thus far, now I have a question...

I have a 1993 Safari SLX and a 1997 Safari SLX, and love square dashes to bits, is it possible (Easy) to switch the whole dash out from the 1993 to the 1997, I know I would lose some features but am willing to take a lose, I have matching interior colors in both and have read about switching the door panels also, it was unclear as to, if it is possible to go from the 1993 to the 1997. So the question is I would like to keep the back half of the 97 safari stock but switch the whole front interior out, is it possible? and would anyone be able to shed some light on what I should look out for, or try to do to get things right...

Any help is apriciated, and I will post lots of pics of the swap....

Welcome to our addiction. Underneath all that foam rubber is the same sheet metal from the firewall back.

Mechanically, you CAN change the dash from curvy to square, but I cannot tell you about the electrical connections. There are MAJOR differences between the two.

As for me, I'd rather the curvy dash. I can put my travel bottle in the cup holders and they remain upright.

Ok..... I disassembled both of the dash clusters and found that the wiring harness' were different, so fyi if you are good at harness work then this is a good week end project, but not so much for me as I at least need one functioning...

On the same topic: I was wondering if the doors are the same size the look a lil' different from the 92-97 if any light can be shed would be appreciated.. I love simplicity and the older panels are , oh so simple... and clean...

thanks again.

Again, from the firewall back, it's all the same mechanically.
