Lifted Van = Winning

I bought this Astro in order to take an 8,000 mile road trip across the country with my best friends. I lifted it to safely get into primitive camping. Now that I am done with the trip, I am torn between selling it and keeping it. I like it a lot.

Most of the pics were taken in Memphis. The one on the beach is in Malibu and the one in the desert is from Zion National Park. We visited a lot of places. This map shows somewhat of the route we took in the van.

How bout some specs? How much lift, front lift details, tire size, gearing, etc.

Looks great. Wish mine were that color.

This is a 2,000 Astro with 111,000 miles after a recent 8,000 mile road trip. I went ahead with the Overland Vans lift 4+ inches. It turned out to be closer to 5, most likely because the old suspension was sagging a bit. Tires are 31 10.5 Bridgestone Dueler Revo AT's. Just a little trimming needed, not much. I bought it because I knew it had a towing package, and typically a G80 rear end and 3:73 gears comes with the towing package. However, mine didn't come with that. I can't remember what they were, but I wished for the G80. I think 3:23's maybe? Got 15 miles to the gallon on average on the trip with the Kayaks on top and fully loaded with our stuff. Not too bad. The van was a must for the month long trip. I was glad I bought it and added the lift. The people who had it before me took great care of the interior. That was important to me. Sadly, I hit a deer in Montana. Just a little hole in the plastic bumper and blinker broken... so I got real lucky!
