Removed oil cooler lines, oil pressure higher?

I have a 2000 Astro van AWD with 155,000 miles on it. After dealing with leaky oil cooler lines the past year, I decided to remove them completely after reading how many people had succesfully done so.

My oil pressure before was around 20psi at idle and 40 at cruise. Now it is at 40 psi at idle and 60 psi at cruise. I know very low oil pressure is bad. But is this pressure too high or just a good thing?

Thanks for any info,

Karl

Higher pressure would mean that there is no longer a leak.
Thats a good thing.

BTW, Welcome aboard...

It's probably due to the pump not having to pump extra oil through the cooler. There is more oil for the bearings now which is a good thing.

I've got a '97 and replaced the lines and rad about a month ago. 40 - 60 is normal for me.

If you much above 60 you will blow the seal on the oil filter apart. My old pick up used to run 80psi and ate filters all the time
