hear heater lines leaking

Post by DANVAN »

Hello all, my rear heater lines are badly rusted and leaking in 2 places.
Ive decided I just want to disconnect them, what is the best way to do that, or better yet, where is the best location, or is there just a way to shut off coolant to them?
I unplugged the elec wire to the solenoid that I think controls the rear heat, but not sure if that will shut off coolant from going back there.
Thank you

When the rear heat on your dash is switched to off, coolant should not flow into the rear heater core.

ok, good to know. The rear heat solenoid is bad, Ive had it bypassed since Ive owned the van, just yesterday, I disconnected it, and the lil drip I had seems to have stopped. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks

replaced the rusted lines with rubber hose today, really wasnt as hard to do as I had thought, took about an hour, and a lot of rust in the face, but at least no more leaks, they were wet in 4 spots.
