2012 - 2013 snowplowing thread
Here's the thread for this winters' plowing. Post up your snow plow/snow removal pics. You get bonus points if it's done with an Astro or Safari!
Woke up this morning to a little snow. We had to travel for a Christmas gathering.
Got home and we had a little more so I plowed. Lynne's parents and our daughter Jess are coming for Christmas tomorrow so I wanted it cleaned up.

Re: 2012 - 2013 snowplowing thread
My wife was feeling sorry for me as I was out blowing snow with my 24" John Deere snowblower, so she told me to buy this:
A Warn Provantage front-mount plow set-up.
Who was I to argue?! It's a basic system, with the small 50" blade, but should work fine for my needs. (In addition to my place, I'm responsible for my dad's and my mom's driveways too.)
The price was about $430 shipped from Amazon, and I'm hoping to recover at least half when I sell my snowblower after the plow is installed.
I'll post real pics when I get it installed... and hopefully will have some action shots shortly.

Nice! My buddy Bill uses his Polaris Sportsman 500 with a 6' plow and tracks! He gets hammered with lake effect every storm and the tracks allow him to plow right up the snowbanks.
As for me...I use the van so I have heat, wipers and music!

My ATV plow parts are due in this week. With luck I'll be installed and ready to plow by the end of the weekend. Granted, being prepared might mean no more snow this winter... but if it snows, I'll have pics too!LiftedAWDAstro wrote:Well if nobody else gets snow and posts pics, it might just be!

Re: 2012 - 2013 snowplowing thread
My plow arrived! It was shipped in three packages, one package due on each of three consecutive days.
On the first scheduled day, two of the packages arrived, one each from Fed Ex and UPS. Somebody was early!
I had already decided to install the plow on my wife's ATV. I'm trying to use it more as it typically gets less use than my own! Here are a couple of before shots.
The first box I opened had the plow mount. Warn offers two plow systems, one being a typical low slung frame mount, and this system, a more integrated and hidden system. Basically, this part of the mount goes on and stays forever, without causing ground clearance problems during non-plowing season. While this system seems pretty stout, I'm guessing the low slung frame mount might be a bit more durable. Anyway, here is the box of parts.
Installing this mount was pretty easy. I had to remove the winch as the new mount replaces the old winch mount. (Lucklily my ATV came standard with a Warn winch, so I didn't have to worry about compatibility issues.) And it is certainly non-intrusive once installed.
The second box contained the plow mount. Unlike the detailed instructions that came in the first box, the second only contained a pic with a parts breakdown. I pieced together as much of it as I could figure out and hoped the final box would have the instructions I needed.
The final box arrived (via UPS) and had the blade, other misc. parts, and instructions.
The final pieces went together easy and I now have this!
As I was out playing with it, trying to clean up some of the snow that has froze hard out in front of my shop, a very warm breeze picked up. I figure now that I'm ready for snow, we won't get any more this winter!

I think they have wayyy too much time and money! That thing was cool though.
Looks like the wheeler will be ready if/when the snow comes! Hopefully we see some plowing pics.
