ANyone with a 1988 to 1993 van with 4.3? I need a favor

If anyone here has a van 88 to 93 with 4.3 I need to know if you can remove your doghouse and follow the big red and purple starter wires and if there is a small purple wire along with them tell me where it attaches. Mine comes from the big harness at the top pass side of the engine then down the same side or toward the back of the engine and is taped to the two larger starter wires. (not the battery cable). I searched through the factory wiring schematics and the only thing I found was for the brake pedal and the 02 and both of them are intact. Thank You, Mark

Ole Yellar is a 89.Next time I'm going to the shop would be Friday.I need you to post if you figure it out before then so I don't remove the doghouse needlessly. In the past Gm's standard code for purple was the neutral safety switch. But I would guess you would know that because it would start in gear if it wasn't connected or it wouldn't start at all.On those switches I am not sure how they work.If it is a switch that works normally open or closed.

OK that would be great. I am thinking it may have something to do with the backfiring problem my van now has. I checked the timing and the TBI and for vacuum leaks and found nothing wrong yet and there are no codes showing either.

Thats ok so am I, My van will most likely sit in the yard till spring so No rush. What ever you find out will be printed and put into my Astro note book.
