Dental Work

Post by CaptSquid »

As many of you may know, I've been officially homeless since August 2012. Sadly, there are few, if any, benefits of being on that list. But, since I am a veteran, I do get free dental care. I only had to hang in there for 60 days. That I did standing, figuratively, on my head.

Well, the Painless Pole took x-rays of my jaw line and shook his head. The results were less than promising. So, after three weeks, I now sport a new smile, courtesy of the tax payers of the United States. I only have to re-learn:

a. How to swallow
b. How to chew
c. How to talk, especially the sibilant sounds

One thing, though, that I lost and cannot recover is my whistle.

Glad some of my tax money went to good use rather than the meth heads next door who are just useless waste of life and are using good resources other people like you could use. How are you coping these days?

Disability seems to be moving in a positive direction.

Transitional housing, on the other hand, proved to be a Peyton Place. People stab you in the back only for their own betterment. Far too many of the residents are in the Judicial system (parole officers) or requiring daily whiz quizzes and/or breath tests. The management had me with two roommates for whom a bar of soap was an obscenity. The last one kept a bowl filled with Listerine on his locker shelf to cover the smell. As a result, I was required to shower daily (they weren't) and LOG IT! The local VFW is helping me, as is my church. I'm looking for another place to stay and it is now in high gear!
