Heater control lamps

Post by till »

As some of you may have read, I just finished re-lamping my radio. Now one of the lights has gone out on the heater controls just above the radio.
I looked it up on the Rockauto web site and I see that it is not a normal lamp. #-o
When I called my local dealer he mentioned that there are a few different lamps for the control box and that most of them are discontinued.

From what I have been able to find it looks like it is a neon lamp. Has anyone replaced these lamps before? I would like to have a little more insight before I take the dash apart again.

Which lamp exactly? You can probably find one at the junkyard.

The one behind the fan speed knob. I was reading that there are three bulbs. Not sure, but if that is true I may have a couple out. I guess that I will just have to pull the thing apart this weekend and take a look. I am getting really good at pulling the dash apart. :D

The lamps are not replaceable through the stealership. You MUST buy the entire unit (switches, plastic & all) just to replace the bulbs!

Try superbrightleds.com. They can sell the LEDs that replace the bulbs.

Heater control bulbs. NA everywhere! I got some from someone here who was parting out a van. I also obtained some extras from the local pic and pull.
I had replaced mine with led bulbs but because I dim my dash, they didn't last long.
