Full sized spare in the factory spare position; 04 Astro

Post by zx150 »

I've got an '04 Astro with 16" wheels and I just got a full sized spare, 215/70/R16. Can the full sized spare tire go where the donut spare goes? The tire is on a steel wheel from a 90's Suburban.

One last thing, how do I get the spare tire holder down? I haven't lowered it in so long I forget how to do it. Thanks!

oper the drivers side rear door.
Notice the small hole where you should insert the tool that should be stored in the same spot as your jack.
Insert the tool, and twist....
A full size spare should fit under these vans, unless its a shorty, like mine...

That's my problem, the rear barn doors don't open. Can it be lowered with the doors shut?

The van did originally have a donut spare.

Drill a hole in the door in just the right spot,,,

In short, no.

You might want to fix that first.
'93 Safari shorty, 350 swap
'05 Astro AWD, lifted, 6 liter, cammed, ported and programmed for fast.
'69 G10, straight 6, 3 onatree, jumped at me when I had a pocketful of cash looking for a spare astro. :)
