Remove and replace rear heater switch.

I have searched several areas of the site but can't seem to find exactly the info I am looking for. I have a 2000 Safari with rear heat and AC. The switch for the heat seems to have gone bad. The thumb wheel seems jammed and will not move from the mid position so it seems I will need to replace the switch. Problem is I do not have a clue as to how I would remove the switch. It seems like the dash panel needs to be removed but again I would not know where to start and I would like to avoid doing more damage by going at it without a little knowledge of what to do. Any help and tips would be most welcome and pics doubly so. Thank you in advance. Alex C. :canuk:

Remove your ashtray and pull the bezel loose. Pinch the switches on the sides and they come out easy

Thank you very much, kind sir. I does seem a rather simple operation but not one that is obvious to the eyes. Thanks again. Now I have to get myself to a wreckers yard and hopefully find one.

The switch is easily disassembled. I would attempt a repair.

A new switch at the stealership will empty your wallet to the tune of around $85.
