Factory Amp Question

Post by draganjr »

Does any one know the specs for the factory amp from a 2004 GMC Safari for the Rear Door Subs.

GM Audio Amplifier Model 16228175 / AMPLIFIER ASM-LOW FREQ AUDIO

I looked everywhere with no luck.

The only thing I would infer is for a 1997 the rear speaker is listed as 4 ohms at 50W. The same amp number(16228175) is also called out so may be work from there.

Thank you Drummernaut.

I think that will work. How did you find out it was 50W @ 4 ohm?

Here is how the Vans radio is wired with Premium Sound without rear controls :

If you look at the third #2 on the list of the link for the 97, the ohms and watts are listed. Even though the speakers are different for the 96-97, the same amp is called out for 1996-2005. I would think what ever speaker you have in that center spot is not going to vary too much.

Really, the only way to be sure is contact GM
