Leaf spring swap

Post by byacey »

My 97 Safari back springs are bottoming out; they are steel leaves. I haul approximately 600lbs of tools and materials and would like to beef up the rear springs. Would a set of springs from a GM 1/2 ton truck bolt up? I haven't really had a close look yet at the spring setup in the Safari.

S10 leafs from SD Truck Springs bolt right up and will lift the rear about 4-4 1/2". You'll have to cut or grind about a 1/2" off the center bolt that holds the pack together but other than that it's a direct bolt on. Look for the thread under the offroad section of this forum for details (4" lift under $300 or something like that).
