NP233c Rear Output Shaft Seal

Post by A-Team »

Hey Gang!
I'm putting together a transfer case swap into my '03 AWD. Building as per Dean's directions for a cable shift. When taking out the old seal, I neglected to note the location of the vent hole on the rubber boot. Factory service manual doesn't mention it directly, but a sketch seems to show a 3-oclock position, however I'm not sure.......... My best guess would be 12-oclock when TC is installed. Your thoughts? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure mine is at 6:00. Take a look at your AWD case, it should have a similar seal/boot.

Thanks John!
My AWD is in Phoenix, while I reside on Kauai. Putting the kit together to take along as "luggage" on the next Mainland adventure. I did however crawl under my '04 cargo 2WD (daily driver & work platform), indeed the vent on the boot is at 6:00......... Doh!
