Gas Gauge

Post by dobaroy »

The gas gauge on our '99 Astro has never worked since we owned it but would sure like to get it working. It reads full all the time (except, of course, when the key is turned off, it then goes to empty). Would this likely be the sending unit? Thanks

The sending unit is in the tank and often can be cleaned with Chevron Techron fuel additive. I haven't had the problem in either of my vans but it worked like a charm in my bride's Nissan. The stuff is pricey compared to the others on the shelf but it works and is much easier than dropping the tank.
