Daylight run headlights and leather?

Anybody else bothered by Daytime headlights? I just got a 97 and I am beginning to get it the way I want it...it will be a fun thing, learning a whole new vehicle.

I want to defeat the dang daytime run headlight function if it's easy... Don't like that feature on cars coming at me..I know, someone somewhere said it's safer or something...and that is fine if you buy it...but personally I don't.

Also, the van I just got is in almost pristine shape for a 15yr old vehicle and it has a leather interior with 6 fancy chairs...Actually 4 captains and a combined bench in the far back...and it has a pretty stong smell of leather inside...Does anyone buy these un-needed seats ever? (Gray leather) I want the rear end empty, I don't carry passengers. And does the leather smell bother anyone else, or did the P.O. treat them with something that brought out the strong scent?

I just now looked in the owners manual, inside my house, and IT even smells strongly like leather...wassup with that?

I'm about 60 mi east of Portland near Hood River, Or. I just removed the two rear captains chairs and the split bench from the far back. I saw no blemishes, cracks or tears in any of those. I have no idea what they're worth...make an offer? I already have the rear seat from my Vanagon sitting on our porch...S.O. hates that and says no more car seats around....

I hate to see such nice seating sitting under a tarp and most likely going to the dump later, in a few years when it gets mouldy. But I don't care to give these away and I can maybe put the leather captains chairs into my vanagon as an upgrade to that one's cloth seats...

They will make a nice upgrade, I have seats taking up space at my house too but I'm always on the lookout for better.
If you were nearby I'd consider the purchase, $3-400 would be a fair price but you need a buyer to make a sale. Shipping to the east coast would be a bit much for me but if you want to drop by for lunch one day,,, LOL

I've got a '97 and know of no way to kill the DRLs but I think the newer ones have a secret code, press the button twice, run around the truck 3 times under a full moon in Milwaukee,,,

My 98 had a DRL relay or fuse I removed many years ago. I didn't like the DRL's either. My 03 and 05 vans, you had to press the dome override on and off 4 times.

On my 98, I press the e-brake pedal down one or two clicks and the drl's NEVER turn on! FINALLY, I can turn the stupid battery killing things off in wintertime!

I know this is an old thread. To the op, what I always do is replace the driver seat with a rear seat before I toss the rear seats. I tried a bunch of times to sell my leather bucket seats for cheap. Still have 2 spares but its about time to replace my current driver seat.
