A/C dose not work

Just bought a 96 Astro Van for a project for my son and I, Dad and Son bonding time. Over 200K miles, A/C doesnt blow in front but rear blows but not cold. Is there a common problem that causes this, all fuses are good. I have lots of other problems to fix from replacing door handles to running rough when it intially starts (maybe O2 sensor's). I appreciate any help you guys can give.

Jim

So... just to get the best info here I will ask:

Are you saying your front blower does not work at all or are you saying your front blower does not work when you have it on AC as opposed to heat?

Have you tried slower speeds on the front control?

Front blower does not blow at any speed, I havent tested the blower motor yet. Just thought there may be a common problem.

Take a look at the climate control sub section here on the forum, I am sure your answer can be found on the 1st page as a lot of us have issues with climate control at some point, though I haven't experienced your particular problem.

Check fuses 1st, then see if your blower motor is the problem. I would think the rear blowing air that isn't cold would be due to a leak somewhere though tough to say without your front working, you may need to pickup a test kit to locate a leak.

Bad blower motors are somewhat common. You can check by putting the speed switch on high and pulling the plug at the motor and checking voltage. Should be full battery voltage.

The other way to check is turn the fan on high then go tap the motor with a hammer if it starts up the motor is toast. If it doesn't then it's in the wiring.
