light problems

Post by muss51 »

i am having a light problem !
changed my starter on an 01 astro and then i noticed that my headlights did not come on every time i start the astro and if i push the button at the headlight switch i can get them to come on . but then i loose the radio lights and upper console lights. plus i have no instrument lights except for the trans control lights. so i replaced the headlight switch and i replaced all fuses under the dash plus i replaced all replaceable light bulbs (6) in the instrument cluster . but i still am having no dash lights and it seems the headlight switch is out of sequence of sorts by not having upper console, radio lights while the headlights are on when i start. but i can get the upper console, radio lights to come on and then manually turn on the headlights------but still no instrument panel lights!!!!!!!!!!!
HELP !!!!!!!!!!

all other electrical items seem to work correctly .

I would go back to the starter and make sure you have the wires in the correct locations and didn't miss one. I think there are a couple of them on the large battery post. Maybe one is intermittently hitting.
