What up all? Did ya miss me?

Post by ihatemybike »

Hey all,
Been busy with life and what not and haven't been on the forum in forever. Still have Green and Grumpy.

Grumpy hasn't moved in over a year, took its front suspension apart, then keep getting pulled away to other projects.

Green been going strong, took it on a trip to Alaska summer of 2013. Its 2nd fuel pump just went out today after 118k miles. Hunting for the ACDelco pump rebuild kit part number is actually what brought me back into the site.

I currently hunting for a 2005 AWD to replace Green and Grumpy with plans to lift and convert the interior for much more extended travel.

Nope, not a bit,,,
just kidding :poke:

Your looking to replace both vans with one?

118 doesn't seem like very many miles to be selling, why? has the rust monkey come home to roost?

Yeah, get back down to one van. My fleet currently consists of 2 vans, 2 suvs, 1 sedan and 1 motorcycle. Too many for only two people. Plus my wife and I are looking more and more into living a mobile lifestyle. So, probably set an Astro up for full timing, have her Jeep as a toad/exploring vehicle (though I'd like an old CJ with a modern drivetrain) and the KE as a run about.

The 118k is how long the fuel pump lasted, van has 265k. Tin worm is eating the rockers and the radiator core support. ](*,)

Gottcha,
I'd like to downsize, in fact I have been slowly doing just that but it seems that for every item I remove the bride moves in two more... ](*,)

Downsize, what's that mean?! We've got two drivers and six registered cars/trucks/vans, plus the motorhome and my KLR... We are going broke paying registration fees and insurance! :muhaha:

I miss my old CJ7 and I would love to have put a chevy TBI into it as well as better axels and transx.
But I am suprised that my Astro 5 speed and my old CJ7 both came with the T5 transmission. :)
My CJ had a straight 6 4.2 liter jeep motor with a webber 2bbl and headers. It went pretty good back in its day !
I am actually using a CJ7 front driveshaft in my astro van as well, lol.

Now that I think about it a bit, maybe a TJ with a diesel swap. I've seen what HPA in Canada does with the VW TDI engine. Tons of torque and capable of 30 MPG. Hmmmmm
