Re: hard shifting tranny
I know this topic is a month old now but I had the same problem and was able to fix it with a transgo shift kit and an auxiliary cooler. The kit I used is designed specifically to fix the hard 1st to 2nd shifts. Mine was so bad it was definitely going to drop the driveshaft or break the ring gear. I...

Re: 2000 AWD doesn't work
I replaced my 00' Astro's case yesterday with a 98' Bravada's. Everything was the same.

Re: Transmission Cooler
They also say "fluid comes out hotter than the radiator". OK, so my radiator is running at 190-200 degrees. That's a lot hotter than I want my tranny to run consistently. The engine is running around that temperature. The "cold" side of the radiator will be lower than that, I'm ...

Re: NP136 Transfer case flaw
Found a video that shows exactly what happens to these transfer cases and one of the fixes. The part they use is $100.

Re: NP136 Transfer case flaw
Great pics Blazer. I've read that the clip failing is what causes the pump to wear holes in the case but I've never actually seen what the clip looks like. I know one of the fixes is an updated clip from GM. The models 136, 146, 246, 261, 261HD, 263HD, 263XHD, and 261XHD transfer cases are all susce...

Re: NP136 Transfer case flaw
I live in the Cincinnati area. I just got back home with a case out of a 98' Bravada. It's older and has more miles on it than what I want but I'm planning on using it while I look for a good deal on a better one. I would love to have one with around 60k on it.

NP136 Transfer case flaw
My AWD Astro quickly dumped all of it's transfer case fluid the other day. Apparently the problem is a design flaw that causes this to happen pretty often. I was really surprised I never read about it here before. There is an oil pump in the back half of the transfer case that sits in a little pocke...

Sliding door (large pics)
The sliding door on my 95 has started to get pretty hard to open. I'm sure my girlfriend will be breaking the handle very soon. I finally took a look at it tonight, it's only tough until you crack it open an inch or so then it moves nice and easy. The latch is dragging on the anchor pin and I'm not ...

Re: Hard 1st-2nd shift
This is the one i used: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1380/ I would rather have bought a new 1/2"-20 drain plug from a local auto parts house and welded a nut on the inside of the pan but this was just easier and it's the same size hole, so if for some reason i don't like it i can alwa...

Re: Block/Circulating Tank Heaters
Why, pray tell, does she warm up the vehicle in 40º weather? That's not even cold enough to chill beer! The van will warm itself quicker if she just gets in and drives. She wants the van warmed up for the the kid's on their 5-6 minute ride to daycare. I'm sure once the weather gets colder she'll be...

Re: Hard 1st-2nd shift
I installed the Transgo shift kit yesterday and got my auxiliary cooler all plumbed up. It still shifts kind of hard into second, i would describe it somewhere between firm and really firm but it shifts at the proper RPM and isn't brutal like it was. http://pdeneka.com/break/zcool9.JPG Added drain p...
