Re: 1996 AWD Front Driveshaft
Ok I removed the front driveshaft and as I thought the thing is toast hehe. The van runs really smooth now in rwd mode, and I should have my replacement in 2 - 4 days. And yes with the type transfer case I have, the one with the viscous coupling and the viscous liquid in it the car rolls very slowly...

The van made the move from Illinois to California with out a problem towing a close to 4000lb trailer and the full family inside hehe. Now on to my problem. My front ...

Re: Need Help Weird nose and Wobble when driving 35MPH+
There is no easy rear end you can put in these vans. With some work and cash you can install 12 bolts, 9", Dana 60's etc. Make sure whatever you do, you get a diff with an offset pinion to clear the gas tank. Hmm never mind in that case, Il just replace this whole rear end assembly on this one...

Re: Need Help Weird nose and Wobble when driving 35MPH+
So, I really think this van hates me hehe. Nothing really crazy, the car runs have been driving it for a lil over 200 miles now. But that noise that I thought was my rear drums, well I was wrong hehe. Its a steady sound it doesn't speed up or slow down at all and sounds like Im dragging something be...

Well boys sure enough.
The front diff is definitely 3.73 and my rear is a 3.42.

Re: Need Help Weird nose and Wobble when driving 35MPH+
Good deal, I take it same deal as the rear, take the first number divide it by the second and you get the ration.LiftedAWDAstro wrote:No tags on the front diff to see. Gonna have to split the case to find out for sure.
Il try to get on that tonight. Third time taking that thing out should be a breeze hehe.

Re: Need Help Weird nose and Wobble when driving 35MPH+
OK quick change of plans. The junk yard didn't have the rear end for the 93 that I got my front diff from and t-case. So new plan of attack. I confirmed that I have a 3:42 in the back by pulling the rear cover from the diff. Now the junk yard does have a 96 safari with a GU6 which is the 3:42 that I...

Yes the mechanic that put my rear diff in verified that it's a 3:42, my door sticker says stock is suppose to be the GT4 Which is the 3.73LiftedAWDAstro wrote:Did you pull the rear cover and verify the ratio?
And the 93 I got my front diff from was a 3.73.
