Back in the saddle...
I'm back to driving an Astro again! Found a super clean, rust-free 2005 about 2 hours from where I live. Looked at it, liked it, bought it. Van details: 2005, 111,000 miles. Somewhat high for the year, but not that high in an absolute sense. I generally buy vehicles at around the 100k mark so the mi...

Re: how far south to find a rust-free van?
Ironwood- as far west as you can get and still be in Michigan. Sorry you didn't like it here. I love it, I just don't love what it does to otherwise perfectly good cars
Florida is just a bit too far. Might's well go to Californistan.
Cheers,
Dave

how far south to find a rust-free van?
I'm in the market for another A/S, and I'm remembering how nice it was to work on rust-free vehicles when I lived in southern California. Now I live in the U.P. of Michigan, where cars die well before their time from the Iron Moths. So I'm wondering how far south I'd have to go to find an area that ...

Re: What does the factory tow package consist of?
Thanks for the info. The reason I'm considering 3.73s is that I plan to do a 2" lift and install 235s, so the lower f.d. will be partly compensated for by the larger diameter tires. It's probably not super critical either way as I have no plans to go to any bigger that 29" tires, and I don...

What does the factory tow package consist of?
I'm looking for an AWD Astro or Safari, and some that I've been looking at have a tow package. Can anyone tell me what that includes? I'm especially interested in the final drive ratios. I'd like to find a van with 3.73s and I'm wondering whether they were standard with the tow package. Thanks in ad...

Re: Returning to the fold, soon I hope
Thanks for the welcome. I tend to agree about the add a leafs- should keep pinion angles the same, less hassle there. I don't need or want a gnarly offroader- I prefer 2 wheels for that- just want to give it a better stance, and room for a size up on the tires. I'm talking like I already have the va...

Returning to the fold, soon I hope
Hello to all. I used to lurk around here (and the other AS forum) quite a lot, back when I owned a '94 AWD Astro. I learned a lot from all the great members on here, and figured I'd always have an Astro or safari- the '94 was our 2nd. But the family was shrinking and my wife was tired of driving van...
