1987 Variable Speed Sensor on gauge cluster
I was hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction. I have a 1987 5-spd Astro van from which I would like to remove the gauges. Apparently because it is an earlier year the VSS is located inside of the speedometer rather than at the transmission. I was hoping that someone her...

Range Rover Wheels on Astro?
I'm posting this to inquire if anyone has ever heard of anyone running Range Rover wheels on an Astro van with a wheel adapter. I've heard the arguments against using wheel adapters but the Wheel options are so terribly limited for the Astro van. I had been looking fro a nice mesh wheel for a while ...

Re: Leaf Spring Deletion.
Thanks for everyone's responses to this post. I appreciate your comments and the pictures. If I am successful fabricating a prototype of the system I described above I will be certain to post my results here.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Leaf Spring Deletion.
Hello Everyone... I was curious if any of you have ever heard of a modification where the leaf springs on an Astro are replaced with a trailing arm set up utilizing the existing front leaf spring hanger with a modified pivot point? If you can imagine the trailing arm fabricated so as to be able to a...

Fuel Evap test....FAIL
I recently had an emissions inspection done on my van. Everything passed just fine except for the fuel evaporation test. Could anyone give me any suggestions of where to look for issues in the fuel evap system? I thought it was just the hoses to the charcoal canister but are there other areas as wel...

Hybrid Anyone?
I honestly had no idea where the proper place was to put this post so pardon the error in advance should this not be the correct place. I have a habit of sketching out crazy engineering ideas and talking at length with my father ( who is an engineer ) about methods of executing and prototyping. Well...

Re: Mesh Style Wheels For Astro...
Those look pretty nice. What size are they... 16s? I was aiming for more of a clean "euro" look but I might have to go with the wheels pictured here ( http://www.mautofied.com/1989-Chevrolet-astro_Vans/listing/100301271/ ) if I can't find what I'm looking for. Any ideas about a wheel hub s...

Mesh Style Wheels For Astro...
Hello Everyone... I've been looking for a mesh type wheel for my '87 Astro and was wondering if anyone would mind sharing some suggestions (for example: http://www.bigwheels.net/?location=wheels&action=view_model&model=Penta ). The Astro's bolt pattern is a real nuisance so I was also wonder...

Re: Atsroghini
I agree with you guys about the looks and certainly that turboed 4.3 will not last but that thing is full of other parts. I'm told it's still available. Maybe the'll part it out.

Has anyone ever heard of anyone who had success with the Walker Quiet Flow 3 muffler? Also, has anyone ever heard of using two performance mufflers in-line to suppress the sound and would it be legal to do so?
Thanks for your input...

Re: '87 Astro Van Lowering Input.
Pardon my delay, I thought that I would receive a notice in my email when someone posted to this topic... Thank you for your response, SS, all very useful information. I was wondering though...where is a good place to get the steel leaf springs and do you think it is worth the expense replacing my p...

'87 Astro Van Lowering Input.
Hello, Everyone, I am lowering my '87 5-Speed Astro about 2.5 to 3 inches. I have the drop spindles for the front already but had a few questions about lowering the rear because I would like to tow my CRX with my van from time to time and wanted to set up everything right the first time and all at o...
