I mean the most effective one sits directly in the block, heating the water. They mount on the left side, where a coreplug normally sits. Quite common here in Norway, and are normally at 500-600 Watt. I believe a block heater could be ordered as original equipment? Another great, but somewhat expens...

I believe your heating issues is caused by one or more leaks in the vacuum system. Which also might cause running and starting issues. Check all the vacuum tubes around the engine. The no start might come from a bad distributor cap/rotor. I just had that.

... and check rear springs for sagging. If I remember right; you shall have no more than 1,5 degrees off between trans output and rear axle pinion (ie. each end of driveshaft).

Wow, what a great project. Congrats! :cheers: That piece of iron is quite heavy (and one extra battery too). Do you notice any problems with that? You could make the weight distribution better by moving your batteries to the rear. I've done that, and driving on slippery roads during winter got easie...
