I've got a 1994, and my OHC doesn't have a display.
What do the later models display? Temp? Gas mileage? Compass?
Thanks

Re: Flipping middle seat for limo style seating
Hmm, so I just braved the cold garage in my boxer shorts to look at that-duh. Yes, I could flip it around but then just realized the shoulder belts would have to be located. hmmmmm. :-k I think a better layout would be two side seats on one side and one on the door side. :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k I did t...

Re: Rear A/C retrofit
Herbie,
Yup! I asked specifically if all of that came in the retrofit price, and they said yes.

Re: Rear A/C retrofit
There appears to be only one compressor for all models in a given year, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm wondering if the wiring is already set under the dash panels, just waiting for the blower switch, and already in the loom to the rear for the motor. A trip to the junk yard will tell the tale. ...

Rear A/C retrofit
Considering a 1994 with no rear A/C (but otherwise pretty much exactly what I want). Local Pick-a-Part has an A/C Retrofit deal, wherein I can strip ALL the components needed for the rear A/C for about $130. AllData has a component view that shows the rear A/C as largely not much more that running t...

Cool!
Is there a write-up, or is it a straight bolt-on (same sheetmetal, different plastic)?

Re: 1994 Astro VIN
Thanks, and a few follow up questions: How can I tell what the rear end ratio is? In fact, what all were the options on a 1994? I will be towing 4,500# up to 4,500', so I'm thinking taller is better. However, I'll only be doing that about 6 times/year, so the ratio DOESN'T have to accommodate a full...

Front end swap?
No, not the drive line...the grill!
Can I swap an early (thru 1994) lights and grill out and install the 1995 and up units?
Thanks

Does a "W" in the 8th place indicate the stronger engine? CPI, I think?

Re: Newby--Options?
OK, so the wife says rear heat isn't a requirement. The truck I'm looking at has the A/C, but the wrong seats. I want the benches with the dual recliners and drink tray. These aren't easy to come by in the junk yards, but they ARE occasionally found in the Gen 1 trucks. Will the "bolt" pat...

Re: Newby--Options?
How cold does it get in Panama? Where we'll be driving, it can get as low as 40*F. I know that seems amazing for a place that sits 10* above the equator, but once you drive up to about 5,700 feet, you end up in the cloud forest and the temps drop like a stone. Plus, we aren't leaving for about 10 m...

Re: Newby--Options?
I found a prospect, but it doesn't have rear heat, just rear A/C. It's an 03.
Would adding rear heat be troublesome, and could I pull the parts from a prior years model?
Thanks

Cool =D> take lots of pics, remember us and I'll be looking for you on the Discovery channel...... I guess if I could use a tow dolly (saving lots of weight) and somehow put electric brakes on it...? What your trade ? and how'd you end up doing this? I was in the medical field, but was laid...

Re: Newby--Options?
Well, as it turns out, my friend's 93 is a bust. It had been sitting for about a year with water in the crankcase. He said he didn't trust it enough to sell it to me.
So now I'll be looking for an 03+ (even though I like the gen 1 dash better).
