Re: 91 lumina apv
i can't see any play in the ball joint. and i can only make it clunk when the weight of the van is on the tire. it's like i can pull the tire in and out enough to make a clunk when i grab it at 12 oclock. (not jacked up). but once jacked up there's no issue. i'm confused......

91 lumina apv
Good day to all! I was playing around with a friend of mine's van today, it's a 91 lumina apv, and i found play on the drivers side bearing/hub-but nothing on the passenger side jacked up. But here's the thing; if i grab the tire at 12 and push and pull in and out, it makes a clunk. it does not do t...

cuttin' out dash lights
So my wife informed me lastnight that with her headlights off, and she hits the brake- the digital dash cuts out, but doesn't do it with the headlights on...

Re: Strange Vibration
Yup, was it ever the u joints. Well, the rear one was the worse. The caps had no bearings left inside of them, and they were just "rollin on rust" LOL
Thanks again to all!!

Re: Strange Vibration
Well I was hearing some clunking lastnight when I was putting it into drive, but not so much in reverse. A buddy of mine stood outside the van to pinpoint the noise-and said it was definitly coming from midship to the rear of the van. So to me, that's u joints correct? I'm used to them making more o...

Re: Strange Vibration
LOL, I just came in from checking that. The wheels seem clean on the inside. When I got to the rear, I pushed back and forth, starting on the passenger side. I heard, clunk clunk clunk as the momentum got it rockin'. At first I thought it was the exhaust banging on something, but nope. So I went to ...

Strange Vibration
Here's how it all started. The wife and I drove 1100 km in a snow storm to pick up our new puppy for our family. I was so happy that I decided to take the Safari instead of the Hardbody-it was horrible. The van worked like a charm the whole way with no issues, other than topping up the PS fluid. The...

Re: Blowing fuses all of the sudden
Well, the lighter socket seemed to be the problem. I unplugged it, and was able to plug a fuse in right away. I didn't see any bent tabs or anything though...maybe it was just plain wore out?
Either way, thanks again to all- and once again astrosafarivans saved me a lot of hair pulling.

Re: Blowing fuses all of the sudden
Good info everyone thanks. I'll be tacklin' it today, and I'll start with the cig lighter idea first as that doesn't involve too much work.
I'll let ya's know, thanks

Re: Blowing fuses all of the sudden
interesting you say that. back when i was using for my emerg response vehicle, i did have a lightbar on top. since...i've siliconed up the hole and thought nothing of it. i guess i'll drop the overhead console down to have a peek.
thanks!! i wouldn't of thought of that

Blowing fuses all of the sudden
Good day to all. Well, the wife broke the van again =D> I'm pretty 12v savy, but I'm having issues here. The circuit that protects the dome lights, cig lighter, and stereo keeps blowing as soon as the fuse is put in. I hauled the stereo out because that is the only after market piece of equipment on...
