Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
blacknome, that's funny I just ground down rust under my (now deleted) cladding. Covered with Eastwood corroless. then a day later sprayed some Duplicolor bed coating. That should get me a few more years. I was not amused nor surprised as the PS did the same thing a few years back. Rockers under th...

Re: General Tune Up?
for cheap insurance throw a new coil in it and keep the old one as a spare. They seem to die at random then work perfectly for days before they die again. The occasional stumble in mine has been pinpointed to the MAP sensor. Its doesnt trip a code just makes it stumble every so often ( so live with ...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
the cladding under the DS door seemed to have more play in it than normal this summer. I popped the 4 pins and pulled the screws holding it on and was greeted by a shower of rust. I feared the worst but lucky for me its only the bracket that the cladding slips on to that disintegrated. Its supposed ...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
thx for the offer. I ended up using some spare 2x2 tubing and my stick welder to graft the back half of the old hitch on to the new one so its all sound. Even bought new bolts to hold it all together !! Damn van seems to have a target on it of late. Been hit-n-run sideswiped twice this spring at the...

Re: P0420 Code
I got the ghost P0420 code for well over a year. After getting pricing on a direct fit I just replaced mine with 2x magnaflow universal cats. Within a couple days the light came back on pinpointing which o2 sensor was bad. Funny thing is since I bought the van in 06 ( 11 years ) I always averaged 13...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Yup, 3 of the pins in the front calipers were sticky and 1 completely seized. Then the cat failed and popped a code ( catalytic convertor performing below efficiency....... So I priced a new cat from GM. LOLOLOL its over $1000.00. Comes complete with the crossover though. So I pulled the crossover a...

Re: Heater Control Valve, Hoses, W/Aux Heat
having replaced that valve twice in the last 10 years I feel you pain. I actually have the hose you are looking for in my toolbox. It goes from the valve to the hard steel line mounted to the body. In the northern vehicles the rear heat lines like to rot where they are mounted to the frame so last f...

Re: Real strange non starting '98'
trust me I can sympathize. My van is ever so reliable and for it to cut out in traffic in the middle of the road with no warning whatsoever baffled me. Then to call a tow truck and have the driver tell me he started it and drove it on and off the flatbed, that was enough and I had him drop it to my ...

Re: Real strange non starting '98'
I know you "tested" the coil but I would be willing to bet that's your problem. Mine would die out of the blue. It left me stranded at work twice and once in the middle of the road driving home. All 3 times when it died I would have no spark. I would test the coil it would be fine. Cap, wi...

I am hoping there is a better way. I know I cannot reach around on the PS where the jack is to reach that plate. There must be a better way

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
paint and bodywork are all done. Its not 100% but definitely 100% better than what was there. However I lost all the pics from my camera and the ones one my phone are all blurry Rear calipers, pins, pads n rotors were done but I still have a slight "shimmy" pulling the trailer when I apply...
