Re: 94 2wd vin 'Z', What is a reasonably easy swap?
I put a 95 LT1 in my 98 Astro, it was easy for me having all the tools, made the exhaust. Mounts from JTR $50, wield rear mount, use ECM and wiring from donor vehicle. No highways here only city driving I get 17 MPG, same as the 4.3. I put a 95 TBI in my wife's 94 and reused the mounts, rewired the ...

Re: What's after Safari/Astro vans???
My LT1 Astro gets 18.75 mpg on the last fill up. My wife's probably gets more with the 350 tbi. Here we don't have freeways only a highway that goes from 25 to 50, mostly 35 mph though. I invested about 600.00 into my wife's van to put the V-8 in.

Re: 95 5.7 into my 94 CPI
Does the filter assembly block the oil dip stick? I was thinking of cutting the tube and making it straight.

Re: 95 5.7 into my 94 CPI
I started the van today minus the exhaust. I need to start putting everything back together and sleeve the wiring. Thanks to locdoc and stan for the information on the wiring and mounts it saved me lots of time and money. I went ahead and bought the air cleaner from Airaid, it looks similar to the o...

Re: 95 5.7 into my 94 CPI
What are you guys doing for the throttle cable? Mines way too short, the one from the doner vehicle is too short also.

Re: v8 2wd mounts
On the drivers side the riser tower that bolts to the frame with 3 bolts and nuts has a different angle on the back bolt. Should I flatten the angle on the bottom ear of the riser tower? The V6 mounts reach forward BTW, that's why switching them brings the mount holes 2 7/8" away from the origi...

Re: Starting problem
If it's a 6 injector CPFI it could be in the crab assembly. Very hard to test. I would check the wire harness near the fuel pump - tank.

Re: 95 5.7 into my 94 CPI
Thanks Stan, nice looking filter setup Lockdoc. I'd love to find an ebay less pricey one, If I had an extra 200 bucks I'd a put in a cam. But thanks again Stan for the web page, this is the wife's van and I want to impress her every time she opens the hood. Or maybe I'll impress her in a different w...

Re: 95 5.7 into my 94 CPI
Thanks Stan, I just figured out the mount thing. The only other thing is the stock Air filter housing. What's everyone using on the TBI engine. The least I will do is a K&N filter.

Re: 95 5.7 into my 94 CPI
Thanks Peter and lockdock, It's a throttle body not vortec and I was hoping to do only the timing chain and Intake. I mostly was looking for a explanation on reversing the mounts. I checked and everyone talks about it but no one explains how to.

95 5.7 into my 94 CPI
Aloha all, I just brought home a 95 C1500 to install into my ailing 94 with the CPI fuel injection system. I'm using the trany from the PU. Can I use my ECM or use the computer, wiring harness from the donor vehicle? And will someone Please tell me if I can swap the motor mounts and how. Thanks Mike

What's TBS?ihatemybike wrote:I wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't for the sticky poppets. GM's TBS originally swapped the CFI for MFI, but then they switched to a chem treatment similar to Seafoam, so that's the route I'm going.

Re: No power on start
These had ign. switch problems. My sister in laws 2000 would not go into 1st or 4th gear, was in a limp in mode. She took it into the dealer and that's what they replaced. I told her it was probably the tranny and not to take it to them but was glad they helped her out.

Baker Electronics sells a 3 wire module for 35.00, I used it and it worked perfectly.
