Re: S10 front diff in AWD astro???

Hello I noticed that this is an older thread but I'm hoping it reaches you or someone who can answer my question reference using the Safari front diff passenger side extended axle tube assembly with mounting bracket to frame in place of the S10 extended splined axle with tube. My safari is a 2001 AW...

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

I am waiting for the transmission to be built with heavy duty billet components etc. I did receive the tail shaft housing from the donor when I pulled the 246tc. It is about a half inch longer so I am hoping there's enough play in the slip yoke of the rear drive shaft to slide in enough with space a...

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

I chose to go with a 246 because the Safari as we know only had a 136 all-wheel drive so I'm hoping following your instructions and pinout lessons learned will apply to the 246 as well. And then I can also with a 246 use the optimum power from the LS 5.3 I have in the Safari now

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

I'm actually in the middle of searching for transmission and transfer case wiring schematics for a 2001 Chevy Sierra 4x4 of course and the same wiring harness schematics for my 2001 GMC Safari AWD.

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

Thanks
I am just in the beginning of peeling open this onion LOL. But if the wire harness is the same will be a lot of help following the information I'm finding on what wires I will need from the donor transmission wire harness for the 246.

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

Great information cuz I'm actually using that as part of my build today or for the next couple weeks I hope to be done with my upgrade from 136 to a np246 transfer case so I'm hoping that what you are talking of the 236 wiring will be the same for the 246 transfer case as well? I did pull all of the...

Re: NP236/246 hybrid build

So today I tried to marry up my front drive shaft to the uninstalled 246tc only to find out that the 136 all wheel drive had a male splined receiver from the TC and this 246 upgrade is female and my driveline end is also female splined as well. What did you do to overcome this? I'm hoping to find th...

Re: Fuel Pump - Fuel Sender Assembly - Replacement Procedure

Definitely consider pulling back that carpet section under first row rear seat near driver's side of van,, locate the area and cute a floor access. A heck of a lot faster and easier than dropping and than reinstalling the fuel tank, plus can be easily accessed anytime in the future. Be sure to seal ...

In need of replacement Body panels

My 2001 GMC Safari SLT suffers from rust right behind the sliding door "front of rear wheel well" I cannot find much in replacement panels for this area. I've seen other same vans same problem. Also when I repair it. What can I do to reduce the chance of it returning same area? Also both s...

Thank you for the suggestions. Will change the cap and rotor and wires while I'm in there and inspect the distributer.

2001 Safari hard or won;t start when wet outside

Thanks in Advance After sitting a day or so outside after good rain or after the ground sweats; the van will turn over but not fire. I assumed the Distributor has a crack in it so I have had success using a hair dryer and aiming it the best I can in the direction of the distributer from under the ho...

2001 Safari brake lights not working, signals only when haz

Thanks in advance. Recently I needed my 4 way flashers on. I pushed in the switch but nothing. I then noticed my turn signals were not working and after further inspection no brake lights. Here is what does work: If I turn on my hazard/4 way flashers and place foot on brake my signals will work but ...

Considering to replace V6 with V8 in my 2001 Safari AWD

How much modification is re there to install a Small V8 in place of the stock V6 within my 2001 AWD Safari? Will it fit in the engine compartment with little to no fire wall work? Will I need to buy a new computer and such etc?

Thanks in advance!
