2006 4.8l replacement

Post by 4mal »

I think my block is probably toast. Savana 2500with 4.8 and 185 k on the cloxk. Tranny rebuild at 150. Yesterdy at about 55mph, the Engime Reduced Power light came on. The temp needle went full up and oil pressure dropped to maybe 30. Normlly that runs at about 40 for this truck. [*]AAA flatbedded it to a repair shop. My suspicion is probably a short block is the answer. We'll see..

Any favorite sources for short blocks. A remanufactured was quoted at around 3000 and change.

TIA, Mal

Welcome to the forum.

30psi oil isn't catastrophic, but hopefully you didn't overheat it. Even if you did, that's just a new head gasket.
Jasper and Powertrain Products have good engines. Not sure about short blocks.

By the way , please post in the Express/Savana section, not Astro/Safari. Thanks.
