Krispy Updates - Reclaimed!
This thread has been built from the progress posts made in my original thread at the old site!
Posted Sept. 30, 2005
Hey guys, I know I've been long on questions and have drawn a lot of help from all of you! Just want you to know I'm not wasting anyone's time on purpose!
Today was a good day!
Old Windshield:
New Windshield: (These guys were in and out in 18 mins flat!)
I also got my Panther Juice5's with 255/45/ZR18's on!
Close Up:
Anyday now I'll be receiving the new spindles and flip kit, I'm only going to do a tasteful 3/2 drop. Also the large Carbon Fiber mirrors will be on in a few days when they arrive. Tint will go on when I figure out what to do about the doors which I'm still investigating and asking about.
Anyway, I see a lot of people name thier rides. Now I am the oldest of 8 kids with 4 brothers. About 8 years ago or so I started this joke that I was going to single-handedly start a new word for "Cool" or "Phat"... this new word was "Crispy", as in, "Dude, that's CRISPY!". Well, long story short, it never quite took off as you may have noticed but it's still good for a laugh to this day at reunions. Therefore, aside from possible spellings, I am naming my ride CRISPY, or Krispy, or Kryspy... don't know, I'll take suggestions.
Anyway, major thanks to all who are helping with a big shout out to Mike: 96Astro whom I spend a great deal of time with on the phone, also CHILNLO for additional inspiration and many others!
Anyway, there should be many more pics between now and I'd say February when I intend to at least put the exterior aside in favor of the interior.

Well, she was lowered today!
Sorry about the pic quality, was losing the light.
I dunno... I like it I think, wheels look much better, but the change is more dramatic than I thought, can't help but to think the vehicle loses some presence with the reduced height...especially the shorty..

Welp... about $500 for the DJM parts shipped, another $60 roughly for rear lowered shocks, and $460 was the damage on the labor. So, about $1,020.00
And yes, that's more than I ever thought I'd spend on this one part of what I'm doing!!!
Not only that, I'm not quite sure I'm done with related expenses yet... I can't make right turns without severe rubbing, I hear this sandblasting type sound when I drive in the back which I think is dirt from the road echoing in the empty cargo area (now that it's lower it's disturbing it), and I have to go get it aligned again which will be another $40 to $50 I'm sure.

Here's some more pics....
Put new head unit in yesterday, this thing is awesome and the face glides down to show cd slot, 3 lines of text, and has a touchpad glidebar for options instead of buttons, and it works really well too...
New battery in preparation for the big changes to come:
Hight Output Alternator #1 arrives today for installation tomorrow.

Got my body kit last night from MattConrad. We met just before midnight at exit 55 on 77 in northern South Carolina. This was my first AstroSafari visit!!!
Now where am I gonna put it???

And of course everything has to be documented!! I swear I don't really have a huge shrek head.. it's a depth.. illusion..thing... and I'm also not amish...

Ok, here's some preliminary pics, though I haven't cleaned up the install yet OR routed the hot through the second battery yet, probably won't get to that til this weekend.
this here is a bit concerning... how you turn these dang things OFF?? I'm all for the bling, but c'mon, this is the view out my rear windows when the engine is off.... and of course you WANNA go look cuz there's a blue hue that catches your eye from across the parking lot!
I'll take some more under the hood tomorrow to see the new alternator and the welding wire to the other optima, plust the adl fuse etc...

hmm.. yeah I think you're on to something... I had a lightning audio amp in there that I took it off of, and when I unscrewed it, it sparked and blew out my dome lights... after I taped it up and screwed it on the new amp I replaced the fuse for the lights and everything came on on the new amp... You think this will drain my battery(s) overnight the way it is? The old amp just had a tiny led on it, this is a very bright light on this new one...
Daylight shot finally:

Well I blew my first 80 Amp fuse today lol...
Taking it up a notch guys... I just purchased the following:
Completely sized to my subs optimal sealed box measurements.
(This post also contained a bunch of pics of laser show and fog machines and stuff I bought for interior party pimping but never used or installed)

Well I dropped her off at the body shop today to start some work... she's gonna get real ugly for a little bit. I went back a few hours later and she had no front fenders or hood... just kinda all naked up front...damn I wish I had my camera, hopefully I can catch it tomorrow so I can do some documenting.
He also painted the inner trim of the replacement pieces the indigo blue... I got a brief preview... man it's beautiful!!!!!!!

Updated pic.... got my grills and installed the alpine amp for the highs... I wanted the amps together but it resulted in a lot of extra wiring and of course..wires!
I really need a cool wiring solution! It's a mess in here!
I got blue power wire coming to replace all the red after the second battery... not sure how to conceal wiring in the cargo!

Just put the super clear euro corners in, they're really nice. I couldn't figure out when the tiny bulbs at the bottom ever went on, I figured maybe only in reverse or something, so I got those in blue... turns out after I put them in, they're on all the time, both mine were just burnt out... so I'll probably have to change them to something umm... legal... the top larger ones I replaced with amber.

Well my Resonant Engineering RE SX sub came today. Too bad I don't have an amp or enclosure for it
1000 watts rms of potential sitting in my closet....

Ok, this is for Westtoastchopsicle who made fun of my plastic grill last week....
Stull Grill insert.....
now those two pics are kind of a lie because I had to enhance the cr@p out of 'em to get the chrome to show up... this is what candid shots look like...
It's actually sort of disappointing, the polished aluminum is ONLY on the very tips and the flat parts of the slats are ash black or whatever they call it...
Also, a pic of how it goes on basically...
BUT... I ran into some problems at the bottom....
the green shows the bracket is not attached at the bottom, and the red shows its because there are about 4 screws coming up from underneath that prevent the grill from getting close enough.
Anway, it wasn't in the instructions, I felt underneath and I feel the heads... I suppose someone is going to tell me I gotta pull 'em out.... and someday maybe I will, but it's not today.
