I just didn't have the cash right now as my wife is going on a trip to england next month. But if sanj hadn't bought the van I was going to come up with some way to get it at the end of next month. Glad to see it going to a good home. (even if it isn't my home )

You never know I am always on the look out for a good cheap donor for a v8 swap. I might get one yet.

just got in from a buddies place,he does auto detailing.He detailed the interior...Man,it come out good
yesterday I rewired & fixed the pillar pod guages & fixed the
heating system & cleaned up the rims.More to do but it's
coming along nicely.

UPDATE:
Brakes have been dealt with,& re adjusted
re tightened the headman headers & welded up the cat
Painted the grille
replaced the right fog lamp/rewired fog lamps.
fixed the left front vallance/skirt (it was hanging)
re mounted the front right shock (it was not attached)
Corvette servo installed
Shift points adjusted,Trans stopped clunking when letting off throttle at hwy speeds.
Re timed for the stage 1 TBIChips.com chip (it was pinging on 91 octane).
Next weekend - valve cover gaskets,pan gasket,trans flush/filter & pan gasket,
oil change,engine degrease.
It's pretty well done for now,im enjoying it.

In Sanja's defense he did a lot of work on this V8 install. I couldn't be happier to see him get it. I'm sure Todd was really happy to sell the van to Sanja also. Todd loved his van and did a lot with it.
I even have a little proof that Sanja helped with the swap. So no "Cheating" here.

Looks like it will be easier to do than it was to put a 350 in my 4 cyl. S-10 a few years ago!! The more I read about it the more it appeals to me, especially since I use mine to tow my bike and utility trailer all over the USA!!

Hmmmm V8 Astro's...... Man , I miss mine sometimes!!! Especially now that gas prices are jumping like crazy. My v8 got alot better mileage than the 96, and Tons better than my crewcab Silverado(6.0L = 13mpg)

The Astro swap is much easier than the 4cyl. Blazer swap,,much easier. I also did that S-10 swap years ago when there wasn't alot of info out there on the subject. Found out after getting started, it doesn't need to be the 4cyl standard shift Blazer to do the swap in.

Go ahead Joe and get it going. You know you think about it late at night and may even possibly be keeping you from sleeping at times.

Good guess! I have a 6.0/4L80E Gen III in a 1939 Chevy sedan that I need to get the last few things buttoned up on, and I would consider the same thing on the Astro. An LS1 or LS2 are hard to find in good shape and reasonable, but the 6.0 LG4 motors are begining to surface at reasonable prices and they are nearly bulletproof! They are basically LS2 engines with cast iron blocks, truck intakes and cam timing. The Gen III is by far superior (no insult here to the LT1-350 folks) to the 350/LT1 in every way/ More HP-torque, better fuel economy....and I think it would be the way to go. Cost is certainly a consideration, but if you find a low miler, there is no need for a rebuild, and we all know what that can cost, even if we build it ourselves and buy the parts wholesale! There are several of these engines around here in hot rod cars that perform exceedingly well to NOT try it in an Astro/Safari...Just a matter of time. It'd be a good time to go to a rack and pinion steering set-up as well. Might give more room for the swap! :-k Let's finsh the '39 first! LOL!
